Scarlett Banks
Scarlett Banks ist eine 19 jährige deutsch-britische Sopranistin, die kürzlich ihr Studium an der Chetham’s School of Music abgeschlossen hat. Ihre dortige Lehrerin, die Mezzosopranistin Kathryn Rudge und der Bariton Marcus Farnsworth, Leiter der Gesangsabteilung, gaben ihr hier sängerische Impulse.
Im Jahr 2021 war Scarlett Mitglied der Opera North Young Voices und wurde als Aninká in der Kinderoper Brundibár unter der Regie von P. J. Harris besetzt.
Seit ihrem Eintritt in Chetham’s im selben Jahr hatte sie die Möglichkeit, in Opernproduktionen wie Hänsel und Gretel und Venus and Adonis mitzuwirken. Desweiteren sang sie in Haydns Harmoniemesse mit dem BBC Philharmonic Orchestra.
Im Jahr 2023 trat Scarlett als Solistin und Duettpartnerin im Bridgewater Hall im Rahmen des Hallé-Konzerts A Night at the Opera auf. Im April 2024, gewann sie den jährlichen Konzertwettbewerb von Chetham’s mit Beethovens Ah! Perfido. Das Werk führte sie im Februar 2025 gemeinsam mit dem Chetham’s Symphony Orchestra auf.
Bevor sie Chetham’s verließ, wurde Scarlett im Sommer 2025 als La Princesse in der Schulproduktion von Ravels L’enfant et les sortilèges besetzt, unter der Regie von Genevieve Raghu und der musikalischen Leitung von Lee Reynolds.
Scarlett hat nun ihr Bachelorstudium bei Prof. Caroline Stein begonnen und freut sich darauf, ihre musikalische Ausbildung an der HMT Leipzig weiterzuführen.
Scarlett Banks is a 19-year-old German–British soprano and recent graduate of Chetham’s School of Music. During her time at Chetham’s, she studied under mezzo-soprano Kathryn Rudge and received additional coaching from Marcus Farnsworth, Head of the Vocal Department.
In 2021, Scarlett was a member of Opera North Young Voices and was cast as Aninká in the children’s opera Brundibár, directed by P. J. Harris. Since joining Chetham’s that same year, she has performed in opera productions including Hänsel und Gretel, Venus and Adonis, and sang in Haydn’s Harmoniemesse with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra.
In 2023, Scarlett appeared as both soloist and duet partner in a concert at the Bridgewater Hall as part of the Hallé’s A Night at the Opera. In April 2024, she won Chetham’s annual Concerto Competition with Beethoven’s Ah! Perfido, which she performed in February 2025 with the Chetham’s Symphony Orchestra.
Before graduating, Scarlett was cast as La Princesse in Chetham’s 2025 summer production of Ravel’s L’enfant et les sortilèges, directed by Genevieve Raghu and conducted by Lee Reynolds.
Scarlett has now begun her Bachelor studies with Prof. Caroline Stein and looks forward to continuing her musical development at the HMT Leipzig.
