Leah Weil

Geboren und aufgewachsen in Uruguay, erhielt Leah schon als Kind Klavier- und Geigenunterricht. 

Über 3 Jahre lang war sie Mitglied des Nationalen Jugendorchesters Uruguays (Orquesta Juvenil del SODRE), mit dem sie ihre ersten Auftrittserfahrungen sammelte und an der Europatournee 2014 teilnahm, die nach Deutschland, Frankreich und Spanien führte. 

Ihre starke Leidenschaft für den klassischen Gesang entdeckte sie, als sie im Alter von 22 zum ersten Mal Gesangsunterricht bekam, nachdem sie schon ein vierjähriges Lehramt Studium -Fachrichtung Englisch- abgeschlossen hatte und in mehreren Schulen als Englischlehrerin tätig war. 

Ihr Gesangsstudium begann die Sopranistin dann an der Nationalen Schule für lyrische Kunst (Escuela Nacional de Arte Lírico) in Montevideo, zuerst bei Beatriz Pasos und dann bei Sofía Mara. Dort konnte sie im Laufe der Zeit in diversen Theater- und Musikprojekten mitwirken. In 2022 erhielt sie ihre erste Hauptrolle und spielte María in der Aufführung von West Side Story im Auditorio Nacional Adela Reta. 

Kurz danach zog Leah nach Deutschland, wo sie derzeit klassischen Gesang/Musiktheater an der Hochschule „Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy“ bei Frau Prof. Caroline Stein studiert.

Leah was born and raised in Montevideo, Uruguay, where she started taking piano and violin lessons at an early age.  

She played the violin at the Uruguayan National Youth Orchestra for over 3 years, which allowed her to gain her first stage experience and participate in the Europe Tour 2014 of Germany, France and Spain.

At the age of 22, she took her first singing lessons, after having obtained a four-year teaching degree in English and being employed at a number of Uruguayan schools. It was then that she discovered her great passion for classical singing. 

The soprano began her singing studies at the National School of Vocal Arts (Escuela Nacional de Arte Lírico) in Montevideo, first with Beatriz Pazos and then as a student in Sofía Mara’s class. Over time, she has had the opportunity to participate in several musical projects. In 2022, she performed her first lead role, playing María in the production of West Side Story at the Auditorio Nacional Adela Reta.

Shortly after, Leah moved to Germany. She is currently studying at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” with Frau Prof. Caroline Stein.
