Harpa Ósk Björnsdóttir

Harpa Ósk Björnsdóttir ist eine Sopranistin aus Reykjavík, Island. Bevor sie im Jahr 2019 ihr Studium bei Frau Prof. Caroline Stein an der HMT Leipzig aufnahm, studierte sie sowohl ab 2011 an der Reykjavík Akademie für Gesang und Vokalkunst als auch ab 2018 an der Kunstakademie Islands, wo sie an verschiedenen Projekten und Produktionen teilnahm.

Harpa absolvierte ihr Studium an der Reykjavík Akademie für Gesang und Vokalkunst im Jahr 2018 unter der Leitung von Ólöf Kolbrún Harðardóttir. Darüber hinaus sang sie sechs Jahre lang mit dem Chor Graduale Nobili, der in erster Linie für seine Welttournee mit der Sängerin Björk bekannt ist. Anfang 2019 trat sie als Solistin mit dem isländischen Symphonieorchester im Konzertsaal Harpa auf als einer der Gewinner des Wettbewerbs „Junge Solisten 2019“. Im Anschluss daran debütierte sie in der isländischen Oper in der Rolle von Barbarina in „Le nozze di Figaro“ im isländischen Nationaltheater. Sie sang sie für die Hauptfigur des Filmes “Sparrows“, der Islands Oscar-Einreichung des Jahres 2017 war.

Sie erhielt verschiedene Stipendien sowohl aus Mitteln von ”Kiyo & Eiko Tomiyasu” (2018), „Jón Stefánsson“ (2020),„Landsbankinn” (2021), “Ýlir” (2021), und „Vilhjálmur Vilhjálmsson“ (2021), als auch von „Festival Puycelsi“, wo sie als Solistin auftrat. Harpa wurde zur "Stimme des Jahres 2019" sowie zum Gewinner der Kategorie Universität gewählt und erhielt den Hörerpreis im Wettbewerb "Vox Domini”. Vor ihrem Umzug nach Leipzig absolvierte Harpa auch parallel dazu ein Bachelorstudium der Elektrotechnik an der Universität Islands. 

In diesem Jahr wird Harpa die Rolle der Titania in der Produktion von „Sommernachtstraum“ der HMT Leipzig und die Rolle der Papagena in „Die Zauberflöte“ im Februar 2023 mit dem Icelandic Symphony Orchestra singen.

Harpa Ósk Björnsdóttir is a soprano from Reykjavík, Iceland. She studies with Frau Prof. Caroline Stein at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” Leipzig. Before moving to Germany she studied singing at the Reykjavik Institute of Singing and Vocal arts under the guidance of Ólöf Kolbrún Harðardóttir until May 2018, and then at the Icelandic University of the Arts under the guidance of Ólöf Kolbrún, Hanna Dóra Sturludóttir, Kristinn Sigmundsson and Þóra Einarsdóttir. Harpa’s graduation concerts from the HMT Leipzig are planned in July 2022.

In September 2019 she made her debut with the Icelandic Opera in the role of Barbarina in “Le nozze di Figaro” in the National theater of Iceland and in the beginning of 2019 she performed as a soloist with the Icelandic Symphonic Orchestra in Harpa concert hall, as one of the winners of the “Young soloists 2019” competition. Harpa sung for the voice of the main character in the movie “Sparrows”, which was Iceland’s submission to the Academy awards in 2017. For six years she sung with the choir “Graduale Nobili”, who is mostly famous for it’s world tour with the singer Björk.

She has received grants from the funds of ”Kiyo & Eiko Tomiyasu” (2018), “Jón Stefánsson” (2020), “Landsbankinn” (2021), “Ýlir” (2021), and “Vilhjálmur Vilhjálmsson” (2021), and received a scholarship from the “Festival Puycelsi” (2019) where she performed as a soloist. Harpa was chosen the "Voice of the year 2019", as well as the winner of the University category and received the listener's award in the competition "Vox Domini”. Before moving to Leipzig, Harpa graduated from the University of Iceland with a degree in Electrical Engineering.

This year Harpa will sing the role of Titania in HMT Leipzig's production of "Midsummer Night's Dream", and the role of Papagena in "Die Zauberflöte" in February 2023 with the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra.
