Yehui Jeong
Die südkoreanische Mezzosopranistin Yehui Jeong studierte Gesang an der Universität der Künste Berlin bei Prof. Markus Brück und Prof. Peter Maus und schloss dort sowohl ihr Bachelorstudium Gesang als auch ihren Master Oper ab. Seit dem Wintersemester 2026/27 setzt sie ihre künstlerische Ausbildung in der Meisterklasse von Prof. Caroline Stein an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater „Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy“ Leipzig fort.
Ihre Bühnenlaufbahn führte sie unter anderem an die Deutsche Oper Berlin sowie zu verschiedenen Opernproduktionen in Deutschland und Südkorea. An der Deutschen Oper Berlin war sie über drei Spielzeiten als Gastsängerin engagiert und wirkte in Richard Wagners Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg in der Gruppe der Lehrbuben mit.
Zu ihren bisherigen Partien zählen Suzuki in Puccinis Madama Butterfly, Lola in Mascagnis Cavalleria rusticana, Modestina in Rossinis Il viaggio a Reims, Clementia in Hindemiths Sancta Susanna sowie die Doppelrolle Harper Pitt/Ethel Rosenberg in Peter Eötvös’ Angels in America. In Südkorea verkörperte sie die Rolle der Byeon Dong-rim in der Oper Yi Sang-ui Nalgae (이상의 날개). 2026 übernahm sie dort außerdem die Titelpartie in Rossinis La Cenerentola.
Neben der Oper widmet sich Yehui Jeong auch intensiv dem Konzert- und Oratorienfach. Als Alt-Solistin war sie unter anderem in Rossinis Petite Messe solennelle, Mozarts Requiem und verschiedenen Messen sowie in Werken von Johann Sebastian Bach, darunter das Weihnachtsoratorium, die Matthäus-Passion, die Johannes-Passion und das Magnificat, zu hören. Ihr Repertoire reicht damit vom Barock und der Klassik über die Romantik bis zur Musik des 20. und 21. Jahrhunderts.
Neben ihrer solistischen Tätigkeit ist sie auch im Bereich der Gesangspädagogik und Stimmbildung tätig und arbeitet mit Sängerinnen und Sängern unterschiedlichen Alters- und Niveau.
Yehui Jeong
The South Korean mezzo-soprano Yehui Jeong studied voice at the Berlin University of the Arts with Prof. Markus Brück and Prof. Peter Maus, where she completed both her Bachelor’s degree in Voice and her Master’s degree in Opera. Since the winter semester of 2026/27, she has continued her artistic training in the Meisterklasse of Prof. Caroline Steinat the University of Music and Theatre “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” Leipzig.
Her stage career has taken her to the Deutsche Oper Berlin as well as to various opera productions in Germany and South Korea. At the Deutsche Oper Berlin, she was engaged as a guest singer over three seasons and appeared in Richard Wagner’s Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg as part of the group of apprentices.
Her previous roles include Suzuki in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, Lola in Mascagni’s Cavalleria rusticana, Modestina in Rossini’s Il viaggio a Reims, Clementia in Hindemith’s Sancta Susanna, and the double role of Harper Pitt / Ethel Rosenberg in Peter Eötvös’ Angels in America. In South Korea, she portrayed Byeon Dong-rim in the opera Yi Sang-ui Nalgae (이상의 날개). In 2026, she also performed the title role in Rossini’s La Cenerentola.
In addition to opera, Yehui Jeong is deeply committed to concert and oratorio repertoire. As an alto soloist, she has performed works including Rossini’s Petite Messe solennelle, Mozart’s Requiem and various masses, as well as works by Johann Sebastian Bach, including the Christmas Oratorio, St Matthew Passion, St John Passion, and Magnificat. Her repertoire therefore spans music from the Baroque and Classical periods through Romanticism to works of the 20th and 21st centuries.
Alongside her solo career, she is also active in vocal pedagogy and voice training, working with singers of different ages and levels of experience.
