From 1991 until 1999, she was a member of the ensemble of the Niedersächsische Staatsoper Hannover. She sang several major roles in her “Fach” like Königin der Nacht in Die Zauberflöte, Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos, Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, and Konstanze in Die Entführung aus dem Serail. Eileen Wokan Die Sopranistin Eileen Wokan (*1999) bekam ihren ersten Klavierunterricht mit 5 Jahren und begann gleichzeitig im Kinderchor zu singen. Sie wurde Teil des Mädchenensembles LaCappella, mit welchem sie sowohl Preise bei bundesweiten Chorwettbewerben, als auch bei Jugend Musiziert gewann. 2014 nahm sie am Chorfestival „Europa Cantat“ in Bergen (Norwegen) teil und knüpfte wichtige musikalische internationale Kontakte. Im Rahmen einer Arbeitsphase mit dem Jugendchor Hochtaunus bekam sie mit 14 ihren ersten Gesangsunterricht und nahm fortan Unterricht bei Anna-Lena Schuppe. Von 2016 bis 2019 war sie festes Mitglied des Landesjugendchors Hessen. Von 2018 bis 2020 studierte sie Schulmusik an der HfMDK Frankfurt mit Hauptfach Gesang bei Laurie Reviol. Seit Oktober 2020 studiert sie klassischen Gesang an der HMT Leipzig bei Frau Prof Stein. Sie nahm an verschiedenen Meisterkursen bei namhaften Sängerinnen teil, wie Klesie Kelly-Moog und Olena Tokar. Außerdem konnte sie wichtige Erfahrungen im Ensemblegesang bei einem Meisterkurs mit dem renommierten Vokalensemble Singer Pur sammeln und war Teilnehmerin der Monteverdi Madrigal Week 2025, in dessen Rahmen sie Unterricht von Emma Kirkby bekam. 2025 gründete sie gemeinsam mit der Lautenistin Isa Kleinhempel das Duo Glanis, welches sich auf die Musik der Renaissance fokussiert. In ihrem Repertoire befinden sich sowohl klassische Opernarien und Lieder, als auch zeitgenössische Musik, Konzertarien und Alte Musik. She became part of the girls' ensemble LaCappella, with which she won prizes at national choir competitions as well as at Jugend Musiziert. Nach dem Abitur begann sie 2016 ihr Studium an der “Korea National University of Arts” in Seoul, welches sie 2020 mit dem Bachelor Abschluss beendete. Seit Sommersemester 2022 studiert sie im Masterstudiengang an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater „Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy“ Leipzig. Yunje Choi ist Preisträgerin verschiedener Wettbewerbe: so gewann sie u.a. den 1. Preis im „la bella concorso“ Wettbewerb und den 2. Preis des „Ehwa &Kyunghyang“ Wettbewerbs in Seoul. The soprano Yunje Choi was born in Suwon, South Korea. Born and raised in Berlin, she discovered her love of singing at an early age through chanson and jazz. Since 2008, she has performed regularly at the Theater Charlottchen, gaining her first stage experience at an early age. In the 23/24 season, she made her debut at the Leipzig Opera as the First Boy in Mozart's The Magic Flute. This role, as well as the role of the Dream Man in Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel, will bring Mariko back to the Leipzig opera stage in the 24/25 season and for the current season (25/26). Since starting her studies at HMT, she has sung regularly in concerts and recitals, for example at the Grieg-Begegnungsstätte Leipzig and the Alte Handelsbörse Leipzig. In HMT productions, she has appeared as Suor Genovieffa in Puccini's Suor Angelica (2023/24) as well as Beatrice in Jake Heggie's Three Decembers (2025). For the 2025/26 season she will take the role of Marie from Lortzing's Waffenschmied to the stage of the HMT and with a guest performance to the Theater Rudolstadt.
